Mullein is one of the best herbs for the lungs. It is a soothing tonic for the lungs and bronchials. It helps with upper and middle lung irritation. It acts as a nervine for the lungs to help with a spastic or non productive cough. Try emollient and soothing for the lungs.
Marshmallow is a demulcent. When it is infused into water it becomes a very slippery, viscous, almost gel like consistency. This helps with the inflammation and irritation of the mucous membranes of the lungs. It protects and soothes sore lungs, throat and entire respiratory tract.
Juniper Berries have a strong antibacterial camphoruous oil that can be used to purify the air, so they can be both burned or inhaled in the form of a steam. They are also antiviral and antibacterial. When inhaled, juniper can assist with lung inflammation and bronchitis.
Eucalyptus also stimulates your immune system. It is a expectorant, and bronchodilator that is good for your lungs and sinus congestion. Strong antiseptic and antibacterial.
Lemon peel in this blend is also very cleansing, and purifying. Citrus is uplifting for the mood while not being overly stimulating. They help improve mood and have mild anti anxiety properties. They are antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal.
Lavender works as an anti inflammatory and as a mild nervine to help relax and decrease anxiety. Lavender is highly soothing both physically and mentally.
Rosemary helps relieve chest and sinus congestion from colds, flu and allergies. It helps open up the airways providing a deeper, easier breath. Rosemary also has antiseptic properties.
Peppermint also works to clear sinus and lung congestion. It aids in relieving coughing and helps fight colds and flu. Peppermint also smells amazing in this blend!
Calendula works as an anti inflammatory. It works both internally and externally to soothe tissues. In the respiratory system it helps sooth the throat and tonsils. It also soothes epithelial tissue internally.
Boil water and add to large bowl. Add a few pinches of this herbal steam. Place a towel over your head and place your head over the steam. Breathe the steam in. Stay in the steam for approximately 10 minutes. Use as needed. Can be used as a preventative or for acute lung issues.
